The Wasp by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm - Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Tuesday 4th December 2018

The UnDisposables present the electrifying, sell-out play The Wasp by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm at The Space from 23rd – 27th April 2019.

Following the success of their inaugural year, in which they produced fourteen short plays and commissioned four new full-lengths, The UnDisposables are proud to announce their upcoming production of The Wasp by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, directed by Sarah Fox.

The Wasp will be performed at The Space on the Isle of Dogs, 269 Westferry Road, London E14 3RS from 23rd - 27th April for 6 performances (inclusive of a Saturday community matinee).

Tickets will be on sale on the 6th of December for £12/£10 via The Space’s website: https://space.org.uk/events/. Some discounted tickets will also be available for the community matinee on Saturday 27th April.

The Wasp burst onto the scene in 2015, selling out at the Hampstead Theatre before being transferred to the West End’s Trafalgar Studios. Following the buzzing success of Lloyd Malcolm’s new play Emilia at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre last summer, April 2019 will see The Wasp performed at London’s much loved community theatre The Space.

“Look at you pretending. As if thirty grand isn’t something you’re desperate for.”

After not speaking for 20 years, Heather and Carla meet at a café. These old school friends share life stories and reminisce about their not-so-perfect past. Then Heather reveals she has a proposition for 6-month pregnant Carla: the opportunity to start again with £30,000. There’s just one condition…

There is a debt that must be paid, and Heather won’t forget what Carla did to her in school.

Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s explosive thriller drags this childhood grudge out of the playground and into the dark cracks of adulthood. The Wasp is an enjoyably nasty two-hander about friendship, jealousy and revenge, asking whether we can ever truly forgive those who hurt us.

Director, Sarah Fox says: 'I'm very excited to be directing with The UnDisposables once again on this thrilling, modern, masterpiece by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm. Plays starring women don't come more explosive and dramatic than this.'

The Wasp runs from 23rd – 27th April 2019 at The Space. Tickets will be on sale on Thursday 6th December: https://space.org.uk/events/.
